Terms of use
Last updated 2026-10-10
These terms cover your use of dotnotfound.com, its API and its AI-assistant (MCP) tools, run by Island AI Lab Inc. (“we”). By using the service or creating an account you agree to them and to our privacy policy. If you don't agree, please don't use it.
What the service does, and what it doesn't promise
- Name ideas are AI-generated. They may resemble existing brands or trademarks. We don't check trademarks and nothing here is legal advice. Clearing a name is your responsibility.
- Domain availability is a moment-in-time check against the registries' own data. It isn't a reservation, a name can be taken a minute later, and “couldn't check” means unknown, not available. Check again right before you register.
- Blind rankings keep ratings private from other participants until the host closes a round, as described in the privacy policy. We can't guarantee that a person using an AI assistant is rating honestly: ratings given that way are marked as such, and a host can turn that off.
- The service is provided as is. We may change, limit or stop features, including the free tier, and we'll try to give notice when a change matters.
Your account
- Give a real email address you control, and keep your passkeys, devices and API keys safe. API keys and guest ranking links are secrets: anyone holding one can act as you or as that guest. You are responsible for what is done with them. Revoke a key or ask for a new link if one leaks.
- If you invite people to an org or a ranking, you confirm you may share their email address or name with us for that purpose.
- Org owners and admins can manage members, groups, invitations and API keys in their org.
Acceptable use
Don't use dotnotfound to:
- break the law, or infringe other people's rights;
- try to get into accounts, rankings or data that aren't yours, or probe or disrupt the service;
- get around the limits (for example by creating many accounts or sharing keys), or resell or redistribute the service;
- send content that is abusive, or personal information you have no right to share, in names, titles or messages.
We can limit or suspend access that breaks these rules or puts the service or other people at risk.
Limits and paid plans
There are daily limits on free use, shown on the site and in the API, and we may change them. Paid plans with more searches are planned; their prices (in US dollars) and terms will be shown before you buy, and these terms will be updated first.
Links to other sites
Registration links returned by our API and AI tools go to a domain registrar and are affiliate links: we may earn a commission if you register through one. We aren't responsible for that site or its prices.
Ending things
You can stop using dotnotfound at any time and ask us to delete your account (see the privacy policy). We can end or suspend an account that breaks these terms.
Liability
To the fullest extent the law allows, the service comes with no warranties, and we aren't liable for indirect or consequential losses, lost profits, or the consequences of choosing, registering or using a name. Where liability can't be excluded, it is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim, or CAD $100 if you paid nothing. Nothing here limits rights you have by law that can't be limited. [Review this section with a lawyer.]
General
These terms are governed by the laws of British Columbia, Canada, and its courts have jurisdiction, except where your local law gives you the right to go elsewhere. If we change these terms in a way that matters we'll tell you on the site or by email before it takes effect; continuing to use the service after that means you accept the change.
